Billy Aerts Biography
Billy Aerts hails
from Tennessee and has been associated with Lobo for more than 35 years. He was in
the band "Mark V" before joining "Me And The Other Guys" in the late 60's before being drafted
and going to Vietnam. When he returned he was in Lobo's touring band from 1971
to 1972. He
was Lobo's co-producer and co-writer for all 4 of the Ponycanyon
CD's and was producer for the WEA "Am I Going Crazy" CD in 1990. He also
was Lobo's tour and road manager as well as band leader during the 90's.
Billy plays Acoustic Guitar, Bass Guitar, Harmonica and is an excellent singer
in his own right.
Outside of his work with Lobo, Billy has a wide range of experience. His
production and writing credits include the "Remington Steel" network television
soundtrack, rock, pop and country radio and television commercials, and
an "Exxon" wildlife conservation film score. He also produced albums for
Susie Luchsinger and various other Canadian artists. Billy received the
"Golden Pyramid" and "Addy" awards for the "Tampa Bay Buccaneers Fight
Song". He was also nominated for a Dove award for "Country Song Of The
Year" in 1994 and 1999 and producer for "Country Album Of The Year" in
1998.
His songwriting credits include staff writer for "Boo Music" and "MTM
Music". His songs have been recorded by Joe Cocker, Kenny Chesney, Holly
Dunn, Lee Greenwood, Paul Overstreet, Susie Luchsinger, Lobo, Janie Frickie,
Jim Stafford, Joe Stampley, Firefall, Cristy Lane, Judy Rodman, Lisa Daggs
and others.
Billy is currently working out of Nashville, Tennessee. He co-produced
an album for Paul Overstreet and has the title cut on the 1999 Kenny Chesney
"Everywhere We Go"
album. He also had a part in the 2001 Robert Redford movie "The Last Castle".
And he continues to tour with Lobo.
